ABOUT US

About

Integrative Functional Medicine is a holistic approach to health care which supports the unique expression of the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of an individual by addressing the underlying causes of disease. Rather than treating the symptoms of disease, together, you and the doctor examine the underlying processes leading to the development of the "dis-ease."  This includes reviewing your life history, your diet, your various environmental influences, your relationships, how you work, relax, play, and sleep. Functional Medicine explores how well your organs and systems are functioning and to what toxins they have been exposed. Functional Medicine emphasizes prevention by assessing risk factors, heredity, and susceptibility to disease, and taking appropriate interventions prior to onset of a disease condition. It is this unique painting of your life story that creates the full picture of your total health which allows Functional Medicine to treat the whole person.

Dr. Roxanne Hollander, DC

Dr. Hollander, a graduate of the Palmer College of Chiropractic, is a philosophically based chiropractor. She believes in the body's innate intelligence and ability to heal. She makes full spinal adjustments mainly by hand, specializing in the neck region.  In addition to chiropractic care, her practice includes integrating Western functional medicine with a European naturopathic technique involving Bioresonance testing. Her interests also include mindfulness studies, all of which provides

a broader picture of the influences into one’s overall health picture.

Chiropractic is a philosophy, an art, and a science. The philosophical foundation is the belief that there is a universal intelligence in all living matter which strives to maintain health. When a subluxation, or dislocation, occurs in the vertebrae, not only can there be pain and discomfort, but it also signifies that there is a blockage of the lifeforce within which would naturally return the body to health and wholeness. The art and science are in the actual treatment, the correction of the subluxation so that the lifeforce within can return to a full expression of health and wellness.

IV Therapies Nutritional Intravenous Therapies, providing micronutrients by intravenous (IV) routes is an effective way of improving essential vitamin and mineral deficits in the body.  IV administration offers direct delivery to the bloodstream and bypasses the digestive system and any obstacles that can hinder absorption into the tissues and cells. This allows the body to receive 100% of the nutrients.

Micronutrients include vitamins, minerals, trace elements, and amino acids all of which serve major roles in the body’s metabolism, cognitive function, and antioxidant properties. When given in certain amounts intravenously the nutritional components have a much more powerful and rapid effect than can’t be achieved orally.

IV Therapies are beneficial for:

  • Chronic Illnesses

  • Acute Illnesses; flu, colds, viruses, etc.

  • Acute and chronic infections

  • Auto-immune disorders

  • Lyme’s disease

  • Candida overgrowth

  • Heavy metal and molds

  • Adjunct therapy to cancer treatment

  • Neurological and cognitive support

  • Stress and fatigue

  • Dehydration

  • Weight loss

TESTING

Evaluating organ and systems functions rather than looking for a specific disease is a basic principle of Functional Medicine. Practitioners use specialized assessment tools to look at the functioning status of your cells, organs, and biological systems.  These tests complement standard testing protocols and can often detect underlying imbalances, including disease tendencies, earlier than standard testing.

Functional tests may examine blood, hair, stool, urine, or saliva. Testing procedures check nutritional status, digestive function, allergies, cardiovascular function, detoxification ability, and more. Dr. Hollander believes this approach provides the best information for predictive and preventive health care, as well as supporting the achievement of optimum health.

Available Tests Include:

  • Nutritional Assessments

  • Digestive Analysis

  • Advanced testing for osteoporosis development
